The fitting process

How a fitting works

It usually takes 20 to 30 minutes. Here's what to expect.

We watch you walk and run

A short walk and jog on our indoor track shows us how your foot lands and how your arch moves.

We measure your foot

Length, width and arch, since two people in the same size can need different shoes.

We pick out a few shoes

Usually two or three pairs that suit your foot and how you run.

You try them on the track

Take each pair for a jog and see which one feels best.

Special fits

Plantar fasciitis, overpronation, wide feet, arthritis, orthotics. We've helped with all of it.

No pressure

Take your time. We're happy to answer questions, and we won't push a brand on you.

Shoe questions

Things people ask us

How often should I replace my running shoes?

Most shoes are good for 300 to 500 miles. If your knees or shins start complaining and the shoes are more than six months old, that's usually the reason.

What if the shoe doesn't work out?

Talk to us. We'd rather know. Bring them back and we'll figure out what went wrong.

Should I size up for running shoes?

Often, yes. Feet swell on a run and you want a thumb's width of room in front. That's part of why we measure instead of going by your dress-shoe size.

Can you help with plantar fasciitis or orthotics?

Yes. We fit shoes around orthotics every week, and we know which models work best for common foot problems. We're not doctors, but we work with a lot of local podiatrists' patients.

Do you have shoes for kids?

Some, mostly in youth sizes for older kids who are running cross country or track. Call first and we'll tell you what's in stock.
